FAQ

Are there professional standards for the coaching industry?

Yes, there is a code of ethics, core competencies, accreditation processes and an International Coach Federation (industry association) that promotes the advancement of coaches. To learn more about this, click here: http://coachingfederation.org/

What’s the difference between therapy, consulting and coaching?

Therapy is more about reflecting on the past and helpful if you can’t move past pain or trauma. And yes, it is possible that a client can be in therapy and coaching at the same time.

Consultants are paid to provide subject matter expertise beyond what a client already knows. They tell you what to do instead of helping you to uncover the best of what you already know.

Coaches, on the other hand, are not focused on providing advice. I focus on meeting my clients where they are at and help them arrive at their own best and appropriate solutions. I maintain a forward-looking outlook for how a client wants things to be in the future, regardless of what happened in the past. As a coach, it is my mission to serve you through the coaching process so you arrive at your best solution in your life and career.

How will I know you are the right coach for me?

During our initial conversations and/or discovery session, together we will identify if this is an appropriate fit.  So, before you say "yes", you will have a sample of what the coaching experience will be like. Until then, click on my ABOUT page to learn more about myself and my approach in coaching.

 What can I expect from you as my coach?

  1. Be a partner in bringing out the best, the deepest, and the truest in you;
  2. Provide safety, encouragement and support; an environment in which you can relax and explore;
  3. Respect the confidentiality of the agreements we make;
  4. Expand your view of what is possible and promote discovery of new insights;
  5. Give you input, straight feedback and operate as a sounding board;
  6. Listen carefully to what you say and ask questions that increase awareness;
  7. Be an on-going resource for you in accomplishing your intentions.

How much does coaching with you cost?

Here are  my packages:  Connect, Create and Contribute or click on the menu above. Each coaching package is customized to your needs and agenda. The packages differ in length of time and intensity of support to accommodate the degree of change, support and practice you will need to see the results you’re wanting.

I believe coaching can create rich and meaningful positive changes for all and I have strong values of inclusivity and accessibility. So, if you don’t see something that meets your needs, feel free to reach out to me at lisa@lisarickett.com

Coaching seems like a big investment. How can I justify the cost?

Think about the ways we’ve tried to increase our happiness and performance, to feel better about who we are, the life we’re living or the work we are doing. Perhaps you’re always working for the weekend or you keep bargaining with your self – I’ll feel better after that expensive vacation. Maybe you have an expensive mortgage, spend money on extravagant meals or activities that feel good in the moment, they look good and shiny on the surface, but don’t create the lasting good feelings you’d like to have every day.

Let’s be real - coaching is an incredibly vulnerable and courageous thing to do. That’s why it takes us time to be ready and reach out.  But if you've come this far perhaps you are ready and willing to do the work. Coaching is about investing in you, so those same good feelings will last not just for the moment, but for life.

What's your approach and who are your clients?

I work with individuals who are willing and ready to commit to making a change or  are looking for growth in their personal or professional life.

I use an interdisciplinary, evidenced-based methodology called Narrative Coaching, plus I bring in other tools and strategies rooted in neuroscience.  What does this mean? Together we co-create the objectives and I customize tools and strategies for the sessions based on your agenda. In Narrative Coaching your stories are central to our work together. They are the fastest way to understand how people see themselves and their world. I listen to inquire into the stories, notice behaviours and patterns to get to the crux of the issue faster so you see with new perspective and create a narrative that will lead to the personal or professional growth you'd like to see.

How do we meet?

If you’re in my local region, I like to meet in-person for our first meeting, the discovery session. After that it’s up to you if you’d like to conduct coaching sessions over the phone or through technologies such as FaceTime, Skype or Zoom web conferencing software.

How long does it take to see results?

Most clients will begin to see progress in the first session alone! However, you will see compounded results and the biggest breakthroughs over the course of 3 to 6 coaching sessions. Most progress happens between sessions as you follow through on your committed actions that build on what you’ve learned.

What are my payment options?

You may pay in full or by monthly installments. Preferred payment is by interac.
